Connecting Stripe

In order for you to take payments you need to sign up to Stripe or connect an existing Stripe account. You can do this all inside your Payment Link dashboard.

Stripe is one of the leading payment gateways in the world. Stripe allows you to accept credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut and a host of other payment types.


Payment Link connects to Stripe for the checkout part.

Once you have completed the onboarding, you'll see this screen

Click the "Connect" button next to Stripe and follow through the steps to either create a new Stripe account or connect an existing Stripe account.

If you connect to an existing Stripe account, in your Stripe dashboard the payments from Payment Link will be listed separately under "Connected Accounts"

Important the set up of Stripe can take 5-10 minutes and you'll need this information at hand;

  • legal entity details (name, type), address, tax identification number (e.g., EIN), date of birth, and bank account information for payouts. Verification requires a government-issued ID (passport/driving license) and potentially proof of address.

Key information needed by category:

  • Individual/Business Owner: Full name, email address, physical home address, and date of birth.

  • Business Details: Legal business name, business address, and Tax ID/EIN.

  • Payout Details: Bank account number and routing/sort code.

  • Verification Documents: Photo ID (for identity) and a utility bill or bank statement (for address verification).

In most cases Stripe will make your account active immediately once you have completed all the information but it is critical to check emails from Stripe as sometimes they require more information to verify your account. Check inside your stripe dashboard also for any messages also. \

Please ensure that Stripe have everything they need otherwise you will not be able to take payments and your account could be put on hold.
